RiverRestoration.org is dedicated to resolving River issues. RiverRestoration.org provides the creative planning, engineering and technical support required in any successful river project. Our philosophy is to take a whole system approach to river projects to meet the multiple needs of ecology, recreation and water users for an overall higher functioning system. We identify degradations, uncover use issues and site constaints, and find solutions that benefit the whole system.

Yampa River Hayden Restoration

Yampa River
Hayden, Colorado

RiverRestoration.org is developing design for the comprehensive restoration of approximately 4 miles of the Yampa River near Hayden, Colorado through the consolidation of temporary diversion structures into a more ecosystem sensitive system. Current practices include bulldozing the channel annually, to divert irrigation water. RiverRestoration.org involvement has included field investigations of the study area for vegetation delineation, topographic mapping, materials sampling and geomorphic characterization. Hydraulic, hydrologic, geomorphic and sedimentation analyses were performed. A full range of alternatives for the restoration and enhancement of the ecosystem have been developed. Benefits associated with restoring wetland and river habitats were incrementally analyzed with costs to determine the most cost effective alternatives. All of this has resulted in a feasible alternative and RiverRestoration.org is proceeding with final plans and specifications.
